A video going viral on YouTube shows a foul-mouthed driver asserting her God-given right to park in the bike lane in Seattle, Washington.
The cyclist asks her if this is her car, and if she knows she’s not supposed to park there.
But instead of apologizing and moving her car, she says, “I literally just ran in, you can just keep going,” as she motions dismissively, her phone in her hand for him to move along like a little doggie. As he begins to reply she cuts him off: “I literally don’t give a f–k what you think.”
Literally? Does that mean her sentence has a literal quality to it, or it belongs in a book? Well, here it is, published for all to see.
The woman, dressed in over-tight jeans, could really use a few hundred miles of cycling –weekly– herself. In addition to taking off that unnecessary hippage, she’d be in a better mood, and more respectful of cyclists who have to put up with similar yawyers.
A passerby pedestrian, coming from her car (and also wearing more pounds than is healthy, but parked in the correct lane,) joins the chorus of abuses against the cyclist, who was standing still while recording the event, and waiting for the motorist to move.
“You are the reason why car drivers do not like cyclists,” she says pointing with her finger and gesticulating. “Yes, you are the sole reason,” conyaws the scofflaw.
Right in front of her car is a clearly marked sign detailing that she cannot park there, which was photographed and photoshopped to include a huge, neon green arrow by the cyclist. (Instructions for idiots?)
Cyclist GhostofStarmanSuper has accumulated a number of videos documenting scofflaws blocking the bike lane using his helmet cam, many of which are posted on his YouTube site.
This particular video came to the attention of the Fox News Seattle news team who produced a story showing the animosity between cyclists and motorists in a city that we thought was actually a nice place to ride (there goes that fantasy.)
Apparently Seattle is going to be getting a lot more bike lanes in the future, and officials have just installed a new bike share program.
